What is infrared photography?

Answered By Travis Partrige, Editor

Infrared photography is more commonly used in military and scientific application. It uses a special film that are sensitive to light we can see and lights that are invisible to the naked eye. It is able to take photos even in long distances or high altitudes with very clear quality.

Since every type of object radiates in infrared light, the military uses this type of film to detect camouflaged troop positions and scientists commonly uses it for forensic applications and aerial crop and forest surveys. It is also used in investigation and restoration of paintings.
